Following the developments of international connectivity projects linking Africa to the rest of the world, and the evolution of the telecommunications ecosystem, the wholesale market is evolving. Capacity & Wholesale Africa brings together representatives of operators, wholesale carriers, submarine cable companies, satellite operators, and all involved in the market, to discuss the next steps for the regional and international development of Africa’s telecoms.

  • Assessing the demand for additional capacity in Africa: who are the customers, what are their needs?
  • Maximising the opportunities of growing capacity availability: technologies required and business models
  • Reviewing the evolution of international connectivity technologies: submarine cable developments, fibre strategies, the role of satellite 
  • The role of regulators in building capacity and connecting Africa to global telecoms
  • Rural connectivity: technologies, solutions and projects to reach under-served areas

Day 2 – Thursday 11th November

  • Examining the evolution of the international carrier market in Africa: who are the main players and how do they interact in the value chain?
  • The wholesale carrier’s role in expanding operators’ services and revenue-generating initiatives
  • Spotlight on IPX: understanding the opportunities created by IPX for mobile and fixed operators
  • Roaming strategies for operators: how to maximise revenues from new services 
  • Interconnection: regulatory strategies and  improving competition with lower interconnection cost
