Robert is responsible for the definition of the optical products at BTI. He advises and works with
the engineering teams to deliver BTI products. He brings over 20 years of development in optical
communication systems and components. His professional background includes Bookham (now
Oclaro) where he was the Chief Engineer with responsibility for the technical performance of all
of the optical products, Nortel (development director for the LH1600 product line) and STC
where he worked at the STL research laboratories on the commercialization of the first optical
amplifiers for submarine systems. He has authored more than 15 technical papers, co-editor of
SPIE proceedings on rare earth doped materials and holds 12 patents.
