
Bala’zs VARGA is Head of Department of IP Functional Development at R&D Directorate of Magyar Telekom (Hungary). He directs and coordinates activities of an R&D group related to the enhancement of broadband service portfolio (e.g. IP VPN, L2 VPN, 3play, IPv6) and introduction of new broadband technologies (e.g. Ethernet, xDSL, GPON). Prior to assuming his current position, Varga was the technical team leader at the IP Competence Center of Magyar Telekom. His previous works include the implementation of MPLS and the introduction of MPLS based IP services in Hungary.
Dr. Varga received his third level education at the Technical University of Budapest, where he was awarded a Master of Science Degree with Distinction in Electrical Engineering in 1993 followed by a PhD in Telecommunications Engineering in 1996. He represents Magyar Telekom in standardisation bodies (e.g. BroadBand Forum) and participates in several international projects.
