Michael Böhlert is Director Technology & Consulting at ancotel GmbH, which is based in Frankfurt am Main and has subsidiaries in London and Hong Kong. ancotel runs the largest and most important data and telecommunications network node in Continental Europe for more than 350 service providers. Michael Böhlert is responsible for the technological development of ancotel’s products and acts as a consultant to business partners and clients. Since joining ancotel in 2003, Michael Böhlert has also served as Head of the Technology team for interconnection services. He has vast experience in the fields of modern transmission technologies, interconnection platforms and the fundamental process operations. He was instrumental in realising ancotel’s virtual interconnection concept (vconnect® networks), which is already used by more than 150 national and international service providers as a way of having their data and telecommunications connections interconnected speedily and flexibly.

After qualifying as a telecommunications engineer, Michael Böhlert worked as a design engineer, working on measurement and testing systems for Createc GmbH, before going on to develop chipsets for SDH transmission technology with Krone AG. He then moved to Samsung Semiconductor to work as a telecommunications application engineer. This was followed by a stint with ECI Telecom, where he worked in presales and sales for technologies such as DCME, VoIP, SDH and IP, before finally moving to ancotel GmbH.
