Pekka Viirola

Pekka Viirola is the Head of Technology of IP Transport Business Unit of Nokia Siemens Networks. This BU is constituted by the Nokia Siemens Networks global DWDM, NG SDH, Carrier Switches, Microwave Radios and IP Connectivity businesses.

In his CTO type of role and as a member of the BU leadership team, Pekka is in charge of the BU technology and architecture strategy including research, technology, architecture and standardization. Pekka joined Nokia Siemens Networks at its creation in 2007. Prior to that, he has worked in multiple responsibilities with Nokia Corporation since 1984. During his career, Mr. Viirola has held several senior business leaderhip positions and has has gained broad international experience, having been based in Finland, France and California. Mr. Viirola holds Master of Sciences degree in telecommunications from Helsinki University of Technology.
